Steam capsule art is one of the most important visual assets for your game’s success. It’s your storefront identity, your first impression, and often the deciding factor for whether someone clicks or scrolls past.
Yet many developers treat capsule art as an afterthought. That’s a mistake.
For this purpose we have created a Steam Capsule Template for you, so you can build a consistent, scalable visual system across all required formats.

How to use the Template
1. Open the Master File
Instead of designing each capsule separately, we created a master PSD:
- This helps you to keep an overview of every resolution.
- Smart objects that update all resolutions at once.
- One image instead of multiple individual ones.
- Artboards for easy export.
2. Navigate to the 4K & Exchange Content
- Navigate in the layer view to the 4k Art smart object
2. Open it by double clicking the image icon.
3. Navigate to the new smart object.
4. Change the content inside to your own illustration and “save”. The original file now updates with your changes.
5. Go back to the master file and adjust the smart object placement to your liking or any other final adjustments.
3. Adjust Banners and Turn off Guidelines
- Make sure to turn off template guidelines.
2. Turn on any banners you may need for example for dlc, music, mods, etc.
4. Export
- Go to File > Export > Export As
2. Export all the files, by clicking “Export”. They are already named and in correct resolutions for each platform.
